Job summary

SimVentions is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the SLBM team at NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA. In this full‑time, on‑site role you will design test plans, execute manual and automated testing across multiple levels, and collaborate with developers and government customers to resolve defects.

Requirements include a BS in Applied Math or Applied/Engineering Physics, 2+ years in applied math/physics, 1+ years in software testing, and experience with Linux and C++.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied math or physics experience in engineering.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or related education.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code.
• Experience with Linux environments.
• Strong requirements tracing and documentation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; customer presentation ability.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write test plans, descriptions, and cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing across static, dynamic, integration, and system levels.
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and related tools.
• Identify and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid fixes.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprints and CCB activities; interface with government customers.
• Occasionally present testing documentation to stakeholders.
