Job summary

Exponent in New York, NY is seeking an Applied Electromagnetics & Electric Power Engineer/Scientist to join the Computer, Data & Security Sciences Practice. You will perform software and hardware analyses, including EMI/EMF assessments, safety reviews, teardowns, modeling, and failure analysis for diverse clients across utilities, government, and industry.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Applied Physics or a related field.
• Technical experience with electric power systems and electromagnetics/EMF applied to electrical infrastructure.
• Experience with high-voltage engineering and/or applied physics related to utility systems is helpful.
• Experience with finite element/numerical analysis, modeling, or simulation of devices or systems.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, C/C++, Java, MATLAB).
• Hands-on laboratory experience in electronics, power systems, robotics, or related fields.
• Excellent written and verbal communications; ability to work independently or in teams.

Responsibilities

• Performing technical analyses related to ongoing Exponent work.
• Conducting electromagnetic analyses and safety investigations for projects.
• Supporting electric utility projects including EMF assessment and grounding.
• Performing reliability and failure analysis of electrical/electronic systems.
• Investigating design through software reviews, teardowns, and reverse engineering.
• Presenting technical results to diverse audiences in verbal and written form.
• Preparing technical proposals to capture new business including DoD projects.
• Contributing to growth of the practice through your technical expertise.
