Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an Applied Data Scientist – AI Enablement (Transportation) to build internal AI capabilities and scale AI across HDR’s Transportation Business Group.

The role starts internally, developing AI solutions and data foundations, then progresses toward client-facing AI delivery and advisory work as capabilities mature. The position includes designing and deploying AI solutions, building reusable data pipelines, and managing full model lifecycles, with a focus on improving data

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 3 years experience with data engineering tools and languages such as SQL, Power Query, and Pandas.
• At least 3 years experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, Seaborn, and Matplotlib.
• At least 3 years experience with data science languages such as Python and R.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, multitasking capable.
• Proficiency with MS Office including Word and Outlook.
• Strong communication skills and ability to handle confidential information.
• Understanding of ML algorithms, data analytics, and data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions addressing internal transportation business needs.
• Build reusable AI components and data pipelines scalable for future client delivery.
• Manage full model lifecycle including development, deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
• Identify data, system, and tooling bottlenecks to improve AI adoption.
• Collaborate with IT and stakeholders to translate problems into AI solutions.
• Support client pursuits and pilot projects using internal AI capabilities.
