Job summary

TRUMPF Inc. in Farmington, CT is seeking an Applications Engineer responsible for customer demonstrations, time studies, and post-sales support across the Sales and Applications areas, focusing on punching and combination machines.

You will train customers, analyze producibility, support with digital solutions, and travel about 25% to USA, Mexico, and Canada, collaborating with product centers and TRUMPF subsidiaries to shape bending technology offerings.

Qualifications

  • Sheet metal experience and TRUMPF product knowledge are desirable.
  • CAD and programming experience are preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing technologies and production software systems is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct best in class customer product and production flow demonstrations at trade shows with a focus on Punching and combination machines.
  • Provide customer application and sales support utilizing TRUMPF digital solutions.
  • Perform parts analysis for producibility and time studies and produce customer sample parts.
  • Continuously enhance technology knowledge through training and testing of the machine.
  • Be responsible for the assigned technology in the production showroom environment.
  • Organize and provide customer product training focused on programming and operating equipment.
  • Consult and demonstrate Industry 4.0 solutions using hardware/software/services to become the go-to expert.
  • Collaborate with product centers and TRUMPF subsidiaries to feedback on product development for bending technology.
  • Travel approximately 25% with focus in USA, Mexico and Canada.

Besides the functional responsibility of applications for customer demos, will also work with customers after installation with startup and production support.Duties & ResponsibilitiesConduct best in class customer product and production flow demonstrations and attend trade shows to increase product sales with a focus on Punching and combination machinesProvide customer application & sales support utilizing TRUMPF digital solutionsPerform parts analysis for producibility / time studies and produce customer sample partsContinuously excel the technology knowledge by participating in training and testing functions of the machineBe responsible for the assigned technology in the production showroom environmentOrganize and provide customer product training courses with a focus on programming and operating equipmentConsult and demonstrate latest machine technology related solutions for Industry 4.0. Utilization of all hardware / software / services that pertain to the technology to become a resident expert / go to person for the technologyCollaborate with product centers and other TRUMPF subsidiaries to provide feedback on product development / improvement ideas for existing or new products in the field of bending technologyTravel estimate is 25% as average, with focus in USA, Mexico and CanadaExperience & EducationSheet metal experience and / or TRUMPF product knowledge a plus. Experience with CAD, programming and machine tool product knowledge desired. Knowledge of manufacturing technologies and production software systems. Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal are required as this position involves extensive contact with customers and sales representatives.
