Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking an Application Delivery Technical Lead to guide software engineers, shape architecture, and deliver enterprise solutions. The role blends design leadership with hands-on coding, mentoring, and collaboration with architects, business users, and Delivery Managers to align projects with IT standards.

The position emphasizes code delivery, architectural guidance, and ensuring project outcomes meet business needs while maintaining high quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
• 5 years of experience in software development
• 3 years of experience in database technologies
• 5 years of experience on projects involving the implementation of solutions applying development life cycles (SDLC)
• Strong verbal and written communication and leadership capabilities
• Experience with RPG, Java, SQL, Angular, APIs design and implementation

Responsibilities

• Provides consultation on business requirements and functional specifications in logical program designs, code modules, application systems, and software solutions
• Reviews the development or modification of highly complex, enterprise level software solutions
• 50/50 role with 50% design/mentorship/leadership and 50% hands-on delivery of code
• Develops and validates highly complex software design prototypes
• Ensures documentation of requirements, design, and test scripts for enhancements
• Leads implementation and maintenance of complex enterprise software solutions
