Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking an Application Delivery Technical Lead to guide software engineers, design complex enterprise solutions, and deliver working code. You will mentor teams, review architectures, and ensure alignment with IT standards while driving delivery of high-quality systems.

You will work with architects, developers, business users, and the Delivery Manager to ensure solutions meet business needs. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent
• 5 years of experience in software development
• 3 years of experience in database technologies
• 5 years of experience with SDLC
• 3 years of experience in systems analysis, including defining technical requirements and high level design
• Experience with RPG, Java, SQL, Angular, APIs design and implementation
• Excellent verbal and written communication and demonstrated leadership skills

Responsibilities

• Provides consultation on business requirements and functional specifications in designs, code modules, and software solutions; supports design transitions
• Reviews development or modification of highly complex, enterprise software solutions
• Balances design/mentorship with hands-on coding (roughly 50/50)
• Develops and validates complex software design prototypes ensuring adherence to architecture standards
• Guides technical direction for development and integration of enterprise solutions
• Ensures detailed requirements, design, and test scripts are documented for enhancements
• Oversees code management and production deployment per IT policies
• Leads project teams technically and collaborates with architects and business leaders
• Mentors teammates and shares knowledge of company methodologies and controls
• Evaluates options, risks, costs, and benefits for software designs and interfaces
• Facilitates deployment and maintenance of complex software solutions to ensure successful releases
