Job Summary

Responsible for managing reporting APPs and APP supervisors, including activities related to patient care, service line development, quality improvement, strategic planning, and policy enforcement. Ensures APP clinical work aligns with scope of practice and hospital policies. Assesses staffing effectiveness, mentors staff, and handles administrative duties such as hiring, onboarding, evaluations, and compliance. Represents APPs to external review agencies like the Joint Commission.

The position is typically split 50% administrative and 50% clinical, with flexibility based on organizational needs.

Note: This is a 40-hour role that may include off-shifts, weekends, and holidays. It provides leadership within a specified specialty with potential expansion to other teams.

Essential Functions
  1. Collaborate with leadership to identify growth opportunities and process improvements.
  2. Evaluate workforce needs and approve staffing requests.
  3. Work with the APP Director on recruitment, retention, and recognition initiatives.
  4. Monitor financial metrics including billing, reimbursement, productivity, and utilization.
  5. Oversee CE/CME policies and expenses.
  6. Develop peer review and quality metrics; assist with chart reviews.
  7. Develop FPPE in collaboration with physician leadership.
  8. Manage change within the service line, ensuring effective communication.
  9. Oversee clinical training, orientation, and billing/coding education.
  10. Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  11. Manage scheduling and coordinate with APP Supervisors.
  12. Clinically work 50% in area of expertise or as assigned.
Supervision
  • Reports to APP Director and physician leader; collaborates with physicians during clinical duties.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Administrative supervision of APPs in assigned areas.
Candidate Requirements

Physician Assistant: Licensed in Michigan, ARC-PA accredited education, NCCPA certification, Michigan Controlled Substance License, DEA registration, BLS, 5+ years clinical, 2+ years leadership.

Nurse Practitioner: Licensed in Michigan, accredited NP program, DEA registration, BLS, 5+ years clinical, 2+ years leadership.
