Job summary

Preferred Apartment Communities is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Carrollton, TX area properties. You will handle maintenance requests, preventive maintenance, and amenity area upkeep to ensure units are rent-ready and systems operate smoothly.

The role involves after-hours responses, basic appliance/plumbing/HVAC/electrical work, stock management, and strong resident interaction. 1–3 years maintenance experience and refrigeration certification (or willingness to obtain in 90 days) are

Qualifications

• 1–3 years maintenance experience (apartment maintenance preferred).
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Budget or basic business finance helpful.
• Refrigeration certification (type 2 or universal) or obtain in the first 90 days of employment.
• Valid driver’s license with dependable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintenance requests, preventative maintenance, and amenity area maintenance.
• Complete maintenance work orders for residents (appliances, plumbing, HVAC, minor electrical, gates, pool).
• Respond to and resolve after-hours emergency maintenance calls.
• Prepare vacant apartments to rent-ready.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks and keep shop clean and stocked.
• Maintain logbooks and databases with service requests and statuses.
• Monitor contractors’ performance and support the Maintenance Manager in budgeting.
