Job summary

Waterton is hiring a Helper A Janitor in Chicago, IL to support the community by performing maintenance, make-readies, and janitorial tasks. You will complete service requests, conduct preventive work, and help prepare apartments for occupancy while maintaining a safe, clean community.

The role emphasizes teamwork, problem-solving, and adherence to union benefits and standards. EPA-CFC certification is preferred, and EPA-LBP is required for properties older than 1978.

Qualifications

• Teamwork and collaboration in a residential setting.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and multi-tasking.
• Experience in building maintenance or related trades.
• Experience with apartment maintenance technology/systems preferred.
• EPA-CFC certification strongly preferred; EPA-LBP required for pre-1978 properties.

Responsibilities

• Complete resident service requests and repairs professionally and timely.
• Perform preventive maintenance and keep accurate records.
• Prepare apartments for occupancy including make-readies (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, etc.).
• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of grounds, amenities, exteriors, and common areas.
• Follow safety measures to provide a hazard-free environment.
