Description

Part-time, average of 20 hours per week

Reports to Animal Care Manager

The Richmond SPCA is a non-profit organization located in the heart of Richmond, Virginia. As a leader in animal welfare, we are committed to saving, protecting, and enriching animal lives. We aim to provide education and resources to achieve a no-kill community. Annually, we rescue, rehabilitate, and find homes for about 4,000 homeless animals, while providing vital safety net programs to keep pets in loving homes. Essential Functions

• Clean animal housing areas following protocols
• Wash pet food and water containers
• Scoop and clean litter boxes, spot clean housing areas
• Walk dogs and assist with behavior modification
• Assist with pet laundry and deliver bedding
• Provide socialization, enrichment, and exercise
• Ensure pets eat and take medications as scheduled
• Maintain special feeding protocols for puppies, kittens, and animals with needs
• Communicate with the Animal Care Manager and team
• Report medical or behavioral concerns
• Work with volunteers and respond professionally to questions
• Notify supplies running low
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas
• Assist colleagues and perform side duties
• Attend trainings and meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Ability to react productively to change
• Work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
• Reliable transportation, including in inclement weather
• Must be 18 or older
• Availability on weekends, holidays, and some weekdays
