Job Summary:

The Relay Technician I & II position requires a high degree of supervision and limited exercise of judgment. The focus of this role is primarily on individual projects and assignments that are designed to develop professional engineering knowledge and abilities. The Relay Technician I & II must be able to apply basic engineering principles, specifications, policies, and procedures. The primary impact of their decisions is on the project.

The salary range for this position starts at $32 per hour, depending on relevant experience, education, and qualifications. We also offer semi-annual profit-sharing bonuses based on company profits to share in the mutual success!

Who You Are:

  • 2-year or 4-year BS Engineering Degree (ABET accredited) OR other technical training deemed equivalent, e.g., military background
  • Competent understanding of math
  • Mechanical and technical skills including understanding electrical concepts such as 3 phase AC, DC, Power (Watts and Vars), complex numbers, and basic understanding of DC and AC elements
  • Ability to understand equipment in the substation yard and its function
  • Proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and other client-specific engineering software
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Excellent organizational skills

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Test relays and assist experienced test engineers in tasks related to testing transmission or distribution substations
  • Use basic engineering principles to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently
  • Work under direct supervision on individual projects
  • Apply technical skills to ensure project safety and efficiency
