Job Description

GDS Associates, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Staking Technician in the Hi-Line Engineering department. This position is remote but requires travel throughout South Alabama/Florida panhandle.

A Staking Technician designs medium voltage electric utility distribution facilities for electric cooperatives and municipal clients. This role requires experience with computerized staking packages.

Duties Include

• Specification of pole height/class, pole top assemblies, and guying assemblies
• Ensure compliance with engineering and construction standards, RUS, and NESC specifications
• Perform field inspections of construction projects and report discrepancies
• Prepare permits
• Knowledge of property deeds, easements, and acquisitions
• Interface with landowners for easements and permissions

Experience And Skills

• Technical degree, engineering technology degree (civil or electrical), or business degree with 2+ years' experience
• Ability to travel to project sites
• Ability to carry a 20-pound pack over rough terrain
• Ability to drive stakes for pole and anchor locations
• Pass drug test, background checks, and social security verification
