Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC, is seeking an Anesthesia Technician for a part-time, 20-hour work week with an evening schedule. You will support anesthesiologists and CRNAs by preparing fluids, monitoring equipment, and maintaining sterile technique to ensure patient safety and efficient perioperative care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Anesthesia Technician program (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
• Basic Life Support certification required.
• If graduation from an accredited Anesthesia Technician program: No prior experience required.
• If a High School diploma or GED: six months of operating room experience in calibration, maintenance, and repair of anesthesia equipment or similar equipment, or related experience in a hospital/healthcare setting.
• To be considered as a Trainee: One (1) year of operating room experience involving direct patient care and/or equipment maintenance and calibration.

Responsibilities

• Assist with invasive and non‑invasive monitoring equipment and support the anesthesia care team during patient procedures.
• Prepare fluids, equipment, and clinical setups while maintaining sterile technique during line placement.
• Anticipate anesthesia care team needs and provide equipment and supplies for safe patient care.
• Assist with patient positioning and transport while maintaining patient safety, privacy, and dignity.
• Follow infection prevention practices, PPE requirements, sharps safety, and laser safety standards.
