Job Summary

This Station Plant Engineering position is responsible for providing advanced condition monitoring and data analyses of critical power plant systems, components, and processes. Responsibilities include the development, maintenance, and use of advanced pattern recognition models and plant operational data to detect changes in the operating behavior of multiple plant systems, equipment, and components. In conjunction with these responsibilities, this position will closely support and interface with plant system managers, component specialists, and engineering personnel, as well as subject matter experts in support organizations or elsewhere, to assess anomalies, identify and classify the associated risks to the plant, issue recommendations, and follow up to ensure resolutions are tracked through to completion. The end goal is to monitor historical data, perform analysis on model generated trends, monitor equipment performance and predict component health, alerting stations of anomalies within those trends which could adversely affect the reliability, availability, maintainability, and performance of PSEG's Nuclear power plant fleet with the goal of improving fleet performance.

Will master all aspects of the Monitoring & Diagnostic (M&D) Center core suite of software and use to the efficient improvement of the monitored systems and components, develop, maintain, and use the Advanced Pattern Recognition models and plant operational data to detect changes and anomalies in operating behavior of multiple plant systems, equipment, and components to increase plant reliability and equipment efficiency. Understand and use Nuclear’s Operational Excellence Model, maintain the M&D Center process and procedures for model development, anomaly alarm tracking, alarm analysis, model updates, and site related communications to continually improve M&D Center process and products as defined by the M&D Engineering Manager. Will build new component models in M&D software as additional diagnostic information is discovered and update/retrain and evaluate the adequacy of the existing models.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Will perform daily monitoring of site critical components that have installed models actively collecting data using advanced analytics software.
  2. Will respond, evaluate, and prioritize alarms for potential equipment related issues and interact with station personnel and provide recommendations to optimize plant equipment and systems.
  3. Will capture and quantify avoided costs to express the value of the team activities.
  4. Will develop and maintain a positive working relationship with SMEs in station operations, maintenance, engineering, and support organizations.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience with a minimum of 6 years of nuclear power plant experience.
  2. Strong working knowledge of individual component types, including pumps, motors, steam turbines, generators, and field instrumentation.
  3. Operational experience and knowledge in all aspects of power plant equipment, with an emphasis on systems knowledge and operations.
  4. Extensive knowledge and experience using data historian (OSI) and other software tools to analyze and troubleshoot problems.
  5. Proficient in engineering theories and principles.
  6. Working knowledge of troubleshooting Power Plant Operational issues.
  7. Demonstrated ability to meet commitments while managing multiple objectives and projects.
  8. Able to prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, and documentation for resolution of technical problems utilizing Nuclear OEM process.
  9. Understand and work to fundamental nuclear requirements, including Safety Culture and Technical Conscience principles.
  10. Proven ability to prioritize alarms/conditions based on risks and consequences.
  11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  12. Strong teamwork and collaborative skills.
  13. Experienced Monitoring Center Analyst that has experience with an Advanced Pattern Recognition and/or diagnostic tools.
  14. Steam turbine engineering or operating experience.
  15. Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) Certification.
  16. Working knowledge of Advanced Pattern Recognition software or other reliability or condition based predictive diagnosis software applications.
  17. Working knowledge of condition monitoring and diagnostic technologies.
  18. Familiarity with Predictive maintenance technologies.
