Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a technologist in Neurodiagnostic technology.
  • BLS Certification and EEG/EP registry preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Performs all technical aspects involved in intra-operative monitoring including EEG, Evoked Potential, Motor Mapping, EMG, and TcMEP studies.
  • Provides information to patients regarding neuromonitoring to ensure understanding and minimize anxiety.
  • Abstracts relevant information to Clinical Director and Medical Staff regarding patient status and changes.
  • Prepares all technical aspects involved in intra-operative neuromonitoring, including standard, complex EEGs, EMGs, TcMEPs, and Evoked Potentials recordings under physician direction.
  • Monitors neurophysiologic functioning throughout surgeries across various departments.
  • Maintains detailed records of items used per patient and monitors equipment functionality.
  • Recognizes and eliminates physiological artifacts and electrical interference from recordings.
  • Responsible for routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Participates in continuing education (minimum 6 credits/year) and maintains documentation.
  • Participates in on-call rotations, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Contributes to department meetings and supports training of staff and students.
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine’s policies and values.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the department and organization.
Minimum Requirements
  • H.S. Diploma/GED and at least 2 years’ experience as a technologist in Neurodiagnostic technology, or
  • Graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited Neurodiagnostic Program.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • Registry in EEG or EP by ABRET or RNCST or RET (Canadian EEG registry) preferred.
