Job Description And Duties

Are you passionate about solving complex operational problems? Do you excel at coordinating multiple workloads in a fast paced environment? If you thrive in collaborative settings and enjoy making data-informed decisions that impact high-profile, high-volume workloads, we want to hear from you.

The Disability Insurance Branch (DIB) administers the State Disability Insurance (SDI) program, serving millions of Californians during critical times when disability or family leave prevents them from working. Our Command Center Operations Analytics Unit works behind the scenes to keep the operation running smoothly—monitoring program performance, analyzing trends, and ensuring customers receive timely and reliable service.

As a Command Center Operations Analyst, you will support enterprise-level claim operations through real-time monitoring, analytics, issue resolution, and cross-departmental collaboration. You will help identify and address emerging workload trends, operational bottlenecks, and customer-impacting issues that require rapid evaluation and action.

Under the general direction of the OAU manager, an Operations Analytics Analyst will:

  • Monitor real-time and near real-time operational performance across claim offices, identifying workload surges, delays, and trends requiring escalation or intervention.
  • Analyze high-volume operational data to ensure timely resolution and optimal workflow efficiency.
  • Develop clear, concise written summaries, data insights, and recommendations for leadership, including the Disability Insurance Branch Executive Leadership Team.
  • Lead or participate in special projects, operational workgroups, and process improvement initiatives to support the Command Center's mission of delivering consistent, high-quality customer service.
  • Develop new tools, resources, processes, or strategies to reduce workloads and meet claim processing deadline requirements.
  • Work to optimize claim processing efficiency through workload prioritization and staff allocations.

Please note, this position is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with an hour lunch. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule with four days reporting every week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the department and is subject to change as business needs arise.

This position is headquartered in the Central Office in Sacramento. Will consider candidates who are located throughout the State of California. This position allows for a hybrid telework schedule, which is subject to change, under EDD's telework policy. California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California to telework. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, for their in-office days. Employees may be assigned to report to another DI office closer to their California residence. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters/office are the responsibility of the employee.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month. You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement.
