Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Chicago is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to oversee program execution across multiple campuses, serving as a liaison between Real Estate, Design Engineering, Due Diligence and other teams to provide forecasting, budgeting, and constructability guidance.

Our goal is to find a candidate with extensive practical construction experience with bidding, contracting, and engineering.

Qualifications

5+ years of construction or project management experience.
Experience managing and negotiating contracts and vendor relationships.
Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings.

Responsibilities

Possess a foundational knowledge of critical data center equipment (Generators, UPS, Switchgear, Transformers, Power Feeders & Busduct, Chillers, Plumbing, Fire Detection/Suppression, AHUs, CRAC).
Perform constructability reviews of critical scopes and drive improvements in baseline.
Perform build phasing evaluations across civil, structural, electrical fields for potential sites.
Determine and communicate site requirements impacting schedule, cost and integration.
Conduct negotiations with land sellers, developers, general contractors; evaluate bids and scoping documents.
Manage GC and third-party vendors delivering preconstruction services during the design phase.
Define construction scopes and issue RFPs to General Contractors; review bid summaries and milestones.
Support issuing contracting documents (Work Orders, Purchase Orders, Work Letters).
Develop handoff project documentation to Construction Manager partners.
Collect, evaluate and share lessons learned to improve delivery across the program.
Ability to travel 25%.
