Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year scheduling experience in ambulatory surgery, acute-care hospital, or doctor's office.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Schedule all outpatient surgeries and procedures as ordered by physicians.
• Enter patient demographics and insurance into the billing system accurately.
• Contact payers to verify benefits and obtain required authorizations.
• Coordinate with the Director of Nursing to ensure equipment and staff availability.
• Prepare and distribute daily surgery schedules to nursing and business staff.
• Capture complete clinical, demographic and insurance information for scheduled patients.
• Communicate scheduling information to Nursing Director and colleagues for add-on cases.
• Flag and communicate potential scheduling conflicts to the Director of Nursing.
• Notify Business Office Manager of any patient issues promptly.
• Maintain positive communication with medical staff and office personnel.
• Track cancellations and monitor/release block time.
• Prepare daily bank deposits for monies received at the surgery center.
• Cross-train to cover front desk and other duties as needed.
