Job summary

THOM Thomas Hospitals seeks a detail-oriented scheduler/registrar to handle outpatient visits and procedures across ambulatory clinics. You will collect essential patient information, verify guarantor and orders, and coordinate scheduling and registration to ensure accurate patient flow.

You will also process payments, reconcile daily cash, and respond to patient inquiries, maintaining a smooth, compliant patient care environment at the Charleston area facilities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.

Responsibilities

• Checks in and Checks out patients in accordance with Scheduling/Registration guidelines.
• Obtain and verify patient guarantor information and generate referrals as needed.
• Schedules and registers patients based on guidelines and medical appropriateness.
• Coordinates follow-up appointments and testing at check-out.
• Collects information to schedule and register appointments.
• Notifies scheduling staff of changes due to patient cancellation.
• Responds to patient and staff needs within the patient care environment.
• Ensures orders exist and verifies completeness; documents outside orders as needed.
• Collects co-payments and time-of-service payments.
• Reconciles cash drawer at end of day and reports discrepancies.
• Collects signatures on waivers for managed care at check-in.
• Completes work tasks timely with daily scheduling duties.
• Responds to all patient communications promptly.
