Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown, WV seeks a Registered Nurse to provide ambulatory care using the nursing process. You will assess patients, plan and implement care, and collaborate with the health care team to ensure safe patient outcomes.

Scheduled weekly hours are 36 with a Day shift. The role requires licensure in the responsible state and adherence to WV rules, including temporary permits and eventual permanent licensure as applicable.

Qualifications

• Current RN license issued by the state where services will be provided or multi-state RN license via eNLC.
• Must obtain appropriate temporary RN permit as required by the state board.
• Documentation of recent graduation from School of Nursing (where applicable).
• WV scope requires temporary WV grad permit; must obtain permanent licensure within 180 days of graduation (WV).
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care within the ambulatory setting based on the nursing process and scope of practice.
• Performs preliminary assessment of patients to facilitate appropriate follow-up with health care team.
• Evaluates unstable or complex patient care situations and initiates appropriate intervention.
• Uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by others to whom care is delegated.
• Maintains standards of care, resources, and patient response evaluations in the delivery of care.
• Participates in patient and family education and in orientation/mentoring of new staff.
