Responsibilities

• Performs department patient and visitor reception, and directs patient to the appropriate location.
• Obtains and verifies insurance and billing information for all insurance types; ability to obtain information for unfamiliar types.
• Audits charts daily for completeness and accuracy; completes follow-ups within designated time; forwards items as needed.
• Prepares identification bracelets and paperwork used during patient care in a timely manner.
• Maintains >95% accuracy.
• Looks up non-scheduled patient exams in the database.
• Maintains relationships with ancillary clinical departments and physician offices.
• Attends meetings and supports future directions of the division; communicates improvements through supervisor.
• Trains and orients new department clerical staff.
• Communicates effectively with diverse people; handles stress; makes sound decisions.
• Understands and complies with Sky Lakes Medical Center policies and procedures.
