Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Medical assisting experience required (MA, CNA/LNA, EMT, PCT or Associate Degree in Medical Assisting).
• Current or former nursing or medical student with at least one clinical rotation.
• Completion of BIDMC in-house competency program in 2019.
• Completion of Basic Clinical Skills course at Northeastern University.
• Phlebotomy Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical assisting duties including vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy and assistance during procedures.
• Keeps patient care areas clean, organized, stocked and ready for use.
• Monitors and maintains medical equipment and supplies within expiration dates.
• Uses the EMR to queue prescription renewals and enter orders.
• Documents tasks in the EMR for accurate billing.
• Schedules diagnostic and lab tests, coordinating with patients and providers.
• Verifies patient insurance, including prior authorizations and referrals.
• Prepares schedules, charts and documents for clinical activities.
