Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• MA, EMT, CNA, or LNA certificate or diploma; or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical assisting duties including vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy and assisting during routine procedures.
• Ensures patient care areas are clean, organized, stocked and ready for patient use.
• Reviews medication lists in the EMR for final review by licensed practitioners; may handle schedule VI and OTC meds under supervision.
• Performs point of care testing and provides test instructions.
• Queues prescription renewals in EMR and documents tasks for billing.
• Schedules diagnostic and lab tests and verifies patient insurance and referrals.
• Prepares schedules, charts and documents for clinical activities per standards.
• Performs check-in and verifies demographics, collects copayments and proxies.
• Records visit disposition in the system and assists in patient flow and communication.
• Acts as liaison to ensure smooth operation and service delivery.
