Job summary

UCLA Health is seeking an experienced Float Practice Manager to oversee multiple Ambulatory Sites and supervise clinical and front/back office staff in a fast-paced academic medical setting.

You will coordinate services across departments, manage space and operational oversight, and partner with leadership to drive efficiency, staff development, and patient access. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills at UCLA Health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
• 2+ years working within a hospital or clinical setting; supervisory experience required.
• Ability to write analytical and administrative reports and correspondence.
• Intermediate skills with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of patient care systems and university policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Front and back office staff by assigning work and ensuring patient protocols are followed.
• Assure adequate coverage during staff absences to minimize disruption.
• Encourage cooperation, teamwork and constructive conflict resolution.
• Motivate staff and establish departmental goals; plan, prioritize, manage time.
• Recruit, train and maintain qualified medical front and back office staff.
• Represent the practice in personnel matters that reach the grievance level.
• Serve as back-up in the absence of the Ambulatory MSO.
• Maintain compliance with policies and daily rounding and records.
• Support initiatives to improve quality of care and patient access.
• Provide real-time coaching and feedback to staff.
