Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking an administrative professional to perform complex duties for patients needing routine or urgent appointments, tests, and procedures in an ambulatory setting. You will assess patient needs, including financial counseling and interpreter services, and refer to appropriate areas as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Proficient in software and computer systems.
• Knowledgeable of business office terminology / procedures.
• Ability to multitask and work under stressful situations.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• 1+ year of customer service experience required.
• Experience with medical office terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives and directs phone calls from patients and physician offices.
• Schedules patients for treatment by multiple providers and treatment areas; arranges tests and procedures per guidelines.
• Prioritizes appointments to optimize patient care and efficient use of staff and equipment.
• Handles urgent patient care calls and alerts providers as needed.
• Greets patients for scheduled or urgent appointments and procedures.
• Verifies patient demographics and insurance information.
• Collects co-payments from patients at arrival.
• Obtains signatures of consent for treatment and billing information.
• Obtains prior-authorizations from insurers as needed.
• Prepares reports or spreadsheets for physicians as requested.
