Job summary

Kern Medical Surgery Center, LLC—Ambulatory Clinics is seeking an On-site Outpatient Consult Representative to handle registration, scheduling, and prior authorizations for multiple physicians and clinics in Bakersfield, CA. A bilingual preference is noted, with an emphasis on accurate patient data, insurance verification, and timely prior authorizations.

Responsibilities include reviewing coverage, communicating payment options, and guiding patients through the scheduling process.

Qualifications

• 1 year outpatient clinic or medical office experience performing scheduling and/or authorizations or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, CCS, TRICARE/CHAMPUS, Workers’ Compensation, and commercial payers; HIPAA privacy and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Submit documentation to insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations.
• Schedule appointments for exams or follow-ups and manage referrals and authorizations.
• Enter patient demographics into the electronic system and review eligibility/authorization.
• Assist with staff training and coordinate with scheduling/registration to resolve issues.
