Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 6 months of patient access experience or equivalent.
• Level II requires 1 year of patient access experience or equivalent.
• Knowledge of state and federal funding programs (Medicare, Medi-Cal, CCS, etc.) and payer policies.
• HIPAA privacy and compliance practices.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, review process, and schedule appointments for exams or follow-ups.
• Assemble data and documents for complete patient registration (pre-admission, pre-registration, registration).
• Enter patient demographics into the EHR and use payer applications for eligibility and authorization.
• Assess financial responsibility and collect co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles at admission.
• Explain payment options and funding sources to patients and families; initiate referrals for funding programs.
