Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC is seeking an AM Design Engineer to join a cross-functional design team. The role embeds into projects to apply additive manufacturing design principles, developing optimized LPBF geometries and supporting prototyping, fixtures, and tooling with FDM systems.

You'll collaborate with AM Materials and Process groups to accelerate parameter development, deliver manufacturable, cost-effective designs, and mentor junior designers on AM practices while

Qualifications

• DfAM principles and guidelines understanding.
• LPBF design knowledge with attention to manufacturability.
• Strong collaboration across design, materials, and process teams.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and AM software.

Responsibilities

• Apply DfAM rules to create optimized LPBF parts.
• Collaborate on part orientation, support strategies, and manufacturability reviews.
• Develop and iterate test geometries to support parameter development.
• Support rapid prototyping using FDM for fixtures, tooling, and prototypes.
• Mentor junior designers on AM design practices.
• Document lessons learned and contribute to AM design standards.
• Collaborate with downstream manufacturing teams to plan manufacturing.
• Serve as a technical resource for cross-functional teams adopting AM.
