Job summary

American University is seeking a Program Manager for Mentoring Programs to lead the university-wide alumni mentoring initiative. You will collaborate with University Advancement, academic departments, student affairs, and employer engagement teams to implement a scalable mentoring ecosystem that fosters student success and alumni engagement.

The role requires strategic leadership, program assessment, and staff supervision, with a hybrid work modality (onsite 3-4 days/week) in Washington, DC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• 4 - 6 years of relevant experience.
• Master's degree or equivalent.
• 5 - 8 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and long-term planning for the alumni mentoring program.
• Design scalable mentoring models, participation structures, policies, and workflows.
• Lead continuous improvement using assessment data, participation metrics, and stakeholder feedback.
• Oversee mentor recruitment, student onboarding, matching processes, and engagement models.
• Oversee platform utilization and CRM systems used for mentoring engagement.
• Supervise the Program Coordinator and other staff.
