Overview

Job Description: Algebra I Instructors (In Person) at 610 W 112th Street, New York, NY 10025. When: ASAP. Day/Time: After School Mondays and/or Thursdays. Part Time, Hourly Paid. Pay rate: $40 - $50 per hour. Liberty LEADS seeks qualified high school experience teachers for our 2024-25 after school programs. The program supports students in grades 5 through 12 with an emphasis on helping them pass Algebra I, Algebra II, and Trigonometry classwork and New York State Regents exams. The program is conducted with guidance from Liberty LEADS advisors and may involve curriculum development to help students master the required skills. Instructors should be able to engage students in person or via Zoom and, if needed, adapt to remote delivery while maintaining student participation. Instructors are expected to deliver a final project for an end-of-year celebration. The Liberty LEADS Program at Bank Street College offers a comprehensive academic program and resources for students in NYC, with a focus on college access and success.

Responsibilities
  • Create, adapt, and implement curriculum for groups of up to 25 students in person or online (typical group size ~10).
  • Engage students and modify curriculum based on student needs and the delivery medium, with support from Liberty LEADS advisors.
  • If circumstances require online classes, ensure reliable wifi and computers, have cameras on at all times, and facilitate student communication and participation.
  • Manage in-person and remote classrooms using positive behavior management strategies.
  • Meet regularly with the Liberty LEADS Middle School Coordinator for supervision and debriefing.
  • Prepare a presentation with students for the end-of-year celebration.
  • Provide lesson plans to the supervisor one week in advance for approval.
Qualifications
