Job summary

The City of Charlotte's Aviation Department operates CLT's Airport Operations Center (AOC), monitoring critical systems and coordinating responses across agencies. The AOC Coordinators handle telecommunications, dispatch, and situational awareness to support safe airport operations and regulatory compliance.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or GED with years of related experience or an associate degree, plus at least one year in airport operations, strong communication

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 5 years related experience, or an associate’s degree with 3 years related experience.
• At least 1 year of airport operations experience.
• Knowledge of airport and airline operations and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, operate, and respond to airport systems (CAD, video, access control, safety, flight tracking).
• Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls; dispatch resources and logs.
• Assess situations quickly; follow procedures during emergencies and IROPS.
• Coordinate with airlines, tenants, the FAA ATCT, and other stakeholders.
• Issue NOTAMs, manage gate assignments, and handle customer service inquiries.
• Provide escorts, snow duties, and other operational support for safety.
• Conduct training for AOC staff and participate in exercises.
• Ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local regs and ACM/SMS.
