Job summary

City of Charlotte airport operations center coordinators monitor and control multiple airport systems, coordinating dispatch of emergency and aviation resources to ensure safe, compliant operations at CLT. The role requires the ability to assess incidents, communicate clearly, and work with airlines, FAA, and other stakeholders.

Training programs, on-site shifts, and ongoing regulatory compliance are key parts of the position, with emphasis on situational awareness and rapid decision-making

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with related experience, or an associate degree with related experience.
• At least one year of experience in airport operations.
• Familiarity with ICS/NIMS and safety regulations.
• Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 139 and 49 CFR Part 1542.
• Strong verbal and written communication; radio skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate airport systems including CAD, video, access control, and weather monitoring.
• Receive, prioritize, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls and log records.
• Assess situations quickly and follow procedures during emergencies and irregular operations.
• Coordinate with airlines, FAA ATCT, tenants, and other stakeholders.
• Issue NOTAMs, manage gate assignments, and handle customer service inquiries.
• Provide escorts and operational support to maintain safety and continuity.
