Job summary

Elite Line Services (ELS) in Detroit is seeking an entry-level maintenance assistant to support baggage handling systems and passenger boarding bridges at the airport. You will assist with preventive and corrective tasks, read manuals, and help keep equipment running safely.

Candidates should have a GED or high school diploma, with at least 1 year of mechanical experience or the ability to pass a mechanical aptitude test. Weekend/holiday shifts and airport environment experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED.
• Minimum 1 year of previous mechanical experience, 1 year previous BHS or PBB experience, or be able to pass a mechanical aptitude test.
• Ability to work a non-traditional schedule including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assists with basic maintenance assignments involving preventive, routine and emergency maintenance; clears system jams; performs shift inspections, cleaning, and electrical/mechanical adjustments.
• May diagnose equipment failures under guidance of senior personnel; ensures equipment is running safely.
• Reads and interprets repair manuals, basic schematics and supervisor/manager instructions.
• Works in tight/high spaces using PPE and fall protection equipment.
• Follows company policies and completes training; completes forms for work assignments.
• Performs additional duties as required by management; assists technicians with basic maintenance like sweeping, cleaning, and greasing.
• Completes safety training and complies with ELS safety programs.
