Job summary

Saab West Lafayette, IN is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for the 3rd shift to support tooling and manufacturing technology while ensuring production tooling is properly maintained. You will audit tools, support studies, conduct performance tests, resolve issues, and help install new tooling capital projects, partnering with tooling engineers and production teams.

The role emphasizes compliance with aerospace standards, GD&T, and a people-first culture aligned with Saab values;

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years relevant experience.
• 2+ years in aircraft manufacturing/assembly is a plus.
• Tooling selection and application experience.
• Basic tooling design.
• Troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures.
• Tooling performance testing and reporting.
• Operate machining and measurement equipment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Understanding aerospace quality regulations is a plus.
• GD&T proficiency.
• Proficiency with Excel reporting.
• CAD experience is a plus.
• Driven, innovative and takes initiative.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Must be self-mobile, sit or stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Overtime and weekend hours when required.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area.
• Provide support for tooling studies and application.
• Conduct performance testing for tooling and provide analysis reports.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues.
• Propose new tooling solutions/designs and assist installation of capital projects.
• Contribute to Saab's people-first culture and assist operators with safe tool use.
