Job summary

Textron Aviation is seeking an Engineering Mechanical Systems Intern in Wichita, KS. You will develop and manage complex mechanical system design tasks for aircraft, including Environmental Control, Landing Gear/Brakes, Hydraulics, Ice Protection, and Flight Controls.

Expect hands-on work, CATIA V5 modeling, and collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and publications. The internship runs 10 weeks in summer (late May to early August), 40 hours per week onsite.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• Or related technical degree as specified in the posting.
• Familiarity with FAA and/or Military processes is beneficial.
• Experience with CAD design tool processes is expected.
• CATIA V5 experience is preferred.
• Professional and diplomatic demeanor with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Incorporate designs utilizing CATIA V5 design and drafting software.
• Develop 3D models to support drawings for detail, assembly, and installation.
• Support prototype build and laboratory testing; set up simulations.
• Assist in creating test plans and reports.
• Create presentations to convey test results or trade studies.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Tooling, and Technical Publications.
• Check peer drawings and support the drawing routing and space reviews.
• Assist production aircraft build by coordinating with Manufacturing Engineering.
• Coordinate design modifications to experimental aircraft for testing and qualification.
• Support investigations and responses to customer aircraft issues.
