Job summary

Textron Aviation in Wichita, KS offers a 2027 Engineering Mechanical Systems internship focused on aircraft systems development across Environmental Control, Landing Gear, Hydraulics, Ice Protection, and Flight Controls. You will work with CATIA V5, develop 3D models, support prototype builds and testing, and prepare test plans and reports.

This paid internship runs 10 weeks from late May to August, onsite, with mentorship and real project experience.

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or other related technical degree.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
Experience with CATIA V5 and CAD processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

Incorporate designs utilizing CATIA V5 design and drafting software.
3D model development in support of detail, assembly and installation drawings.
Support build of prototypes of systems components for testing; set up and run laboratory simulations.
Assist in the creation of test plans and reports.
Create presentations to convey test results, design issues, or trade study recommendations.
Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Tooling, Technical Publications and other functional areas.
Check Peer drawings, initiate the drawing routing process and support Space Reviews.
