General Description

Aircraft Mechanics II must have experience repairing fuel systems, engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty to meet assigned missions.

DUTIES
  1. Maintain, repair, and modify aircraft structures and components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical parts. Use technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to diagnose malfunctions and restore equipment condition or operation. Interpret technical documentation such as blueprints or manuals to solve moderate to complex problems.
  2. Possess thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical troubleshooting, repair procedures, and parts replacement. Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair is required. Basic electrical knowledge is necessary. Familiarity with aircraft-specific tools like test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers is essential.
  3. Work with technical publications. Receive guidance from supervisors or senior technicians. May lead teams on complex aircraft tasks and make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  4. Prioritize workloads. Lead teams on complex tasks. Inspect work of Mechanic IIs and Is.
  5. Provide input for Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage (ECOD), and recommend modifications to Maintenance Work Orders (MWO).
  6. Potential specialization in sheet metal, electrical work, avionics, or other disciplines.
  7. May use HVLP spray guns and corrosion control tools.
  8. Work on or off aircraft depending on specific needs.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience on C-130H/J aircraft variants.
  • FAA licensing may be required.
  • CPR qualification is preferred.
  • Training in PPE use, inspection, and wear is required.
  • Familiarity with chemical, solvent, and fuel exposure symptoms.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Walk, stand, climb, crouch, crawl, grasp, reach, and handle objects.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Work in high heat, cold, confined spaces, and at heights with fall protection.
  • Wear respirators.
