Aircraft Mechanic 2nd Shift - Customs & Border Protection

Job Overview

The 2nd Shift Aircraft Mechanic II is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and modifying aircraft structures and components of moderate difficulty. This includes work on flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and other mechanical systems.

Principal Responsibilities
  1. Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to diagnose malfunctions and restore equipment to operational condition, interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints and manuals.
  2. Perform daily maintenance, inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting, and fault isolation on aircraft systems.
  3. Use personal hand tools for maintenance tasks; specialized tools and test equipment are provided by Customs.
  4. Lead teams on complex aircraft tasks as needed.
  5. Make entries in aircraft logs and records when required.
  6. Prioritize workload schedules effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid State driver’s license.
  • Willingness to undergo random drug testing.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
  • Experience and knowledge in repairing and maintaining both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft and their systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting, reading schematics, blueprints, and manuals, adhering to FAA, company, and other directives.
  • Reliability, good judgment, and adherence to safety and disposal procedures for hazardous materials.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, understand instructions, and communicate effectively in English.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Capability to perform aircraft mechanic duties physically.
  • Ability to move freely, meet weight limits, and work in various positions including standing, squatting, and working overhead.
  • May need to wear a respirator and use ear protection in noisy areas.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
