We are seeking an experienced Air Import Coordinator to join a fast-paced international freight-forwarding operation in the Morrisville/RDU area. This is an excellent opportunity for a logistics professional who enjoys managing international shipments, solving problems, communicating with customers and global partners, and keeping freight moving from origin through final delivery.

The ideal candidate will have previous international freight-forwarding experience, preferably within air import operations, and will be organized, responsive, team-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.

This is a temp-to-hire opportunity with strong potential for permanent employment for the right individual.

What You’ll Do

• Coordinate international air import shipments from origin through final delivery.
• Communicate with customers, overseas agents, U.S. partners, carriers, customs contacts, and internal teams.
• Receive pre-alerts, establish shipment files, and maintain accurate shipment documentation.
• Track cargo and provide timely status and ETA updates to customers.
• Prepare and coordinate documentation required for customs clearance.
• Select and dispatch trucking providers and arrange final delivery to customers.
• Prepare customer and agent quotations using the company quotation system.
• Communicate and negotiate rates with carriers.
• Monitor shipment status, PODs, delivery charges, and final milestones.
• Process shipment payables and customer billing within the freight-forwarding system.
• Maintain consistent follow-up to ensure shipments are handled accurately and on schedule.
• Support established quality and ISO processes.
• Work closely with operations, management, sales, and other departments to resolve issues and meet customer expectations.

What We’re Looking For

• 1-3 years of international logistics or freight-forwarding experience.
• Air import experience strongly preferred; air/ocean import experience will also be considered.
• 2-3 years of customer service experience.
• Understanding of international shipping processes and freight documentation.
• Experience with freight-forwarding or logistics software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to successfully manage multiple shipments and competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and follow‑up skills.
• Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
• Positive attitude, strong sense of urgency, and commitment to exceptional customer service.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
