Job summary

People Freight is seeking an Air Import Agent in Elk Grove Village, IL for end-to-end air import shipments from arrival to final delivery. You will coordinate with airlines, overseas agents, customs brokers, truckers and warehouses to ensure smooth operations and on-time delivery.

This hybrid role offers a salary up to $70,000 depending on experience, plus a bonus opportunity. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of U.S.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of U.S. Air Import / freight forwarding experience
• Strong knowledge of Air Import operations and documentation
• Experience with airlines, customs brokers, truckers and overseas agents
• Knowledge of U.S. Customs clearance procedures
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end Air Import shipments, from arrival through final delivery
• Coordinate with airlines, overseas agents, customs brokers, truckers and warehouses
• Prepare and process import documentation (arrival notices, invoices, bills of lading/air waybills)
• Track shipments and ensure timely customs clearance and delivery
• Coordinate with brokers regarding entry documentation and clearance requirements
• Monitor shipment status and resolve delays and issues
• Communicate updates with customers and overseas offices/agents
• Arrange final-mile delivery and coordinate with trucking companies
• Review and maintain shipment records in the TMS system
• Prepare and review billing and invoicing for shipments
• Ensure compliance with U.S. import regulations
• Provide high level of customer service throughout the process

This is a hands-on operational role responsible for managing air import shipments from pre-arrival through final delivery, while providing excellent service to customers and overseas partners.

The Role

• Manage end-to-end Air Import shipments, from arrival through final delivery
• Coordinate with airlines, overseas agents, customs brokers, truckers and warehouses
• Prepare and process import documentation, including arrival notices, commercial invoices and bills of lading/air waybills
• Track shipments and ensure timely customs clearance and delivery
• Coordinate with customs brokers regarding entry documentation and clearance requirements
• Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve delays, discrepancies and operational issues
• Communicate regularly with customers and overseas offices/agents regarding shipment updates
• Arrange final-mile delivery and coordinate with trucking companies
• Review and maintain accurate shipment records within the company’s TMS/operating system
• Prepare and review billing and invoicing for completed shipments
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and applicable U.S. import regulations
• Provide a high level of customer service throughout the import process
