Job summary

SAS is seeking a Legal Counsel in Cary, North Carolina, to support AI, software, cloud services, and strategic partnerships. The role collaborates with product, engineering, and business teams to structure, negotiate, and manage global technology transactions while balancing risk and business objectives.

You will advise internal clients on commercial, operational, and technology-related matters and interact with stakeholders across the company in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a minimum of five years of relevant legal experience.
• Licensed to practice law and admitted to at least one state bar in good standing.
• Experience negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, including software, SaaS, cloud services, or other technology-related transactions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a legal subject matter resource for AI, product, R&D, and emerging technology matters; promote consistency in contracting and risk management across the global Legal team.
• Structure and negotiate partner, customer, and vendor transactions with internal groups like Corporate Development, R&D, Product Management, AI/Innovation teams, Sales, and Finance.
• Lead and support legal matters related to AI, software development, data usage, and technology transactions; develop contracting approaches and negotiation positions.
• Draft and negotiate strategic partnership and collaboration agreements, including technology integrations and go-to-market arrangements.
