Job summary

GEICO, a leading auto insurer, seeks an impactful Technology, AI and Innovation Attorney – Assistant General Counsel/Director to advise on technology and AI models, platforms, products, and initiatives within the Law, Policy and Compliance department.

You will guide on regulatory considerations across the AI lifecycle, partner with product and compliance teams, and help shape GEICO's AI governance framework while addressing privacy and data protection issues.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 10+ years of legal experience, including ≥5 years in technology/AI matters.
• Understanding of U.S. technology, digital, AI laws and data protection.
• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks (e.g., NIST AI RMF, EU AI Act, NAIC AI Bulletin).
• Ability to partner across Legal, Compliance, Technology and Business teams.
• Experience in insurance or other regulated industries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise on legal and regulatory considerations across the technology product and AI lifecycle.
• Partner with internal clients to advise on development, implementation and monitoring of tech/AI initiatives, products and processes.
• Assist in identifying and mitigating legal and regulatory risks related to AI, privacy, data and consumer protection.
• Help develop and implement technology-related policies, procedures and training programs.
• Advise GEICO’s AI governance framework.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate tech/AI risks and provide practical solutions for various teams.
• Monitor AI-related legislative and regulatory changes and advise on impact and advocacy opportunities.
• Provide training on AI risk management and responsible AI use.
• Support Supplier Management with vendor onboarding and oversight of technology partners.
• Advise on legal aspects of technology vendor relationships, including vendor contracts.
