Job summary

Truist seeks a senior AI risk advisor to serve as a strategic expert on AI risk, spanning governance, regulatory, and control design across the bank. The role focuses on complex, cross-cutting AI risk challenges requiring coordination across risk disciplines.

The position demands strong judgment to influence without direct authority, mentorship to team members, and the ability to translate AI risks into actionable guidance for business and risk stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ten+ years of banking, technology, operations or risk management experience.
• Experience with AI lifecycle governance and risk assessment methodologies.
• Knowledge of AI regulatory frameworks and compliance standards.
• Strong business acumen / knowledge, management experience, problem solving, critical thinking, influencing and decision-making skills.
• Experience operating independently and navigating ambiguity to deliver value.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills demonstrating the ability to establish credibility with all levels of management effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and manage complex initiatives and deliver high-quality, executive level work products.

Responsibilities

• Work across a wide range of business units to promote coordinated and risk-based approaches to managing AI risk.
• Build trusted relationships across multiple functions to support effective governance and oversight of AI risks.
• Translate technical AI risks into actionable risk-management considerations for business, risk, and governance stakeholders.
• Assess and distinguish issues that can be addressed through evidence and control design from those requiring policy decisions, risk acceptance, or senior-level escalation.
• Provide expert challenge and independent perspective on AI risk matters, including emerging risks and areas where existing frameworks or controls do not adequately address AI risk.
• Recommend and help advance AI risk methodologies, decision frameworks, governance principles, control approaches, and other reusable solutions as technologies and use cases evolve.
• Promote consistent application of AI risk-management frameworks, governance standards, and control requirements across the organization.
• Exercise sound judgement to turn ambiguity into action, influence stakeholders across complex organizations, drive appropriate risk-management outcomes, and upscale significant AI risk matters when warranted.
• Coach and mentor junior team members and contribute to building the organization's AI risk talent, capabilities, and leadership pipeline.
