Job summary

Citi in Getzville, NY is seeking an AI Risk and Control Director to lead independent oversight of AI use cases and assets, ensuring governance and regulatory alignment. This Hybrid role sits in the Non-Financial Risk function and places you at the center of governing AI at scale across a global portfolio.

You will build and lead a high-performing team, shape the multi-year AI risk framework, and present to senior executives and board-level discussions on risk posture.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in risk management, controls, or related field in a large global financial institution; 8+ years in senior management.
• Proven track record leading senior teams (VP/Director) in a matrixed global org.
• Deep knowledge of AI/ML risks, incl. Generative/Agentic AI, with controls for hallucination, drift, bias and autonomy.
• Ability to assess AI risk across development to decommissioning and challenge metrics and reports.
• Broad knowledge of AI governance frameworks, regulation (EU AI Act, NIST RMF) and risk disciplines.
• Exceptional ability to influence stakeholders and communicate AI risk clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

• Exercise delegated authority for AI use cases and assets, conduct risk/controls assessments, sign-off for higher-risk deployments.
• Lead risk-based reviews of pre-release testing, control design, and approval conclusions before production.
• Monitor AI risk parameters and escalate material issues to governance and risk teams.
• Assess impact of new AI use cases on processes and controls; reapprove changes as needed.
• Build and develop a high-performing AI risk and control team; foster accountability and continuous improvement.
• Represent AI risk at executive forums, governance committees, and Board discussions.
• Define and drive a multi-year AI risk framework roadmap aligned with Citi's enterprise AI strategy and regulatory landscape.
