Job summary

EY is seeking an experienced engineer to turn emerging AI capabilities into durable products. You’ll work end-to-end, close to users and production code, guiding AI behavior, data flows, and integrations in a hybrid role with up to 50% travel.

The Challenger Core group builds reusable tools and guardrails to accelerate scalable, responsible AI-enabled services. This role emphasizes ownership, rapid iteration, and thoughtful design, with a strong focus on safety, accessibility, and operational

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• End-to-end delivery: taking software from concept to launch and adoption.
• Technical breadth across frontend, backend, API, data, and cloud tech.
• Applied AI experience with models, retrieval, tools, or AI patterns.
• Evaluation experience with automated testing and probabilistic outputs.
• Live-service ownership: telemetry, debugging, reliability, incident response, recovery.
• User-centered practice with users, designers, and product leaders.
• Engineering craft: clear specs, maintainable code, thoughtful review, trade-offs.
• Travel and On-site requirements up to 50%, hybrid office visits.

Responsibilities

• Start with the user; understand workflows, observe friction, and identify AI value.
• Test assumptions quickly with concise specs, prototypes, and small releases.
• Own complete product slices across experience, services, data, AI, and integrations.
• Shape AI behavior with instructions, context, retrieval, and structured outputs.
• Build an evidence system with tasks and automated evaluations for usefulness and safety.
• Connect outcomes to behavior via instrumented user journeys and telemetry.
• Engineer for responsible use with clear permissions, data handling, and safeguards.
• Own production quality: release incrementally, monitor, and respond to incidents.
• Make practical trade-offs balancing experience, quality, speed, reliability, cost.
• Contribute reusable patterns and patterns to the broader platform.
