Job summary

Moderna is seeking an AI Engineer in Cambridge, MA to provide deep technical leadership for AI software platforms and cloud deployment patterns across Supply Chain and enterprise Digital. This role is an individual contributor shaping architecture, delivering critical components, and mentoring engineers while collaborating with product and business leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
• 4+ years of software, data, or AI engineering experience with 2+ years delivering production ML/GenAI/analytics.
• Expert proficiency with Python and SQL; strong architecture fundamentals; experience with additional language such as Java/Scala/TypeScript.
• Frontend experience with TypeScript/JavaScript and modern framework (React/Angular/Vue/Svelte) and reusable components.
• Backend experience designing production APIs/services (REST/GraphQL); observability; production debugging.
• Experience architecting and operating LLM/GenAI systems (RAG, embeddings, vector search, evaluation).
• Experience designing secure, compliant, auditable systems with GxP, data integrity, change control.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical strategy and reference architecture for AI software delivery and cloud platforms.
• Lead end-to-end Cloud deployment standards across dev, test, prod environments.
• Build and review critical components, APIs, and platform accelerators for production AI.
• Establish AI/ML/LLMOps engineering practices including CI/CD and IaC.
• Guide integration of SAP and enterprise data sources into trusted data products.
• Partner with product owners and cybersecurity to meet business and security requirements.
• Improve platform reliability, cost efficiency, and developer experience.
