Moderna is seeking a hands-on, impact-driven Principal Software Engineer, Platform Engineering to help define, build and evolve reusable platform capabilities that enable application teams to develop, deploy, and operate software safely and effectively.

This senior individual contributor role combines deep technical execution with cross-functional technical leadership across Builders, Cybersecurity, Architecture, AI platform teams, and broader groups to provide scalable, secure and user‑focused

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software or platform engineering, DevOps, or related roles.
• Proven track record building developer platforms and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong coding skills in Python or TypeScript/JavaScript.

Responsibilities

• Design and build secure platform capabilities using Python/TypeScript and CI/CD tooling.
• Lead AI runtime safety and AI gateway pattern development with policy enforcement.
• Package tools and patterns to simplify secure, governed development workflows.
• Collaborate with Cybersecurity, Architecture, and AI platform teams on standards.
• Create templates, reference implementations, and documentation for platforms.
• Improve developer experience and reduce setup time across teams.
• Establish operational practices including monitoring, runbooks, and ownership.
