Job summary

Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead one or more teams, set technical direction, and own delivery across scope, cost, and quality. You will champion AI-native SDLC practices while collaborating with Product Management and stakeholders to deliver high-value initiatives.

You’ll oversee vendor partnerships, recruit and mentor engineers, and provide technology leadership in secure, scalable application development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or four years of equivalent work experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of technical experience and 3 years of management experience; 12 years technical and 5 years management preferred.
• Ability to lead multiple software engineering teams in a distributed workforce and manage vendor resources.
• Strong experience with AI-native tooling, CI/CD, and cloud-native architectures (Azure, Kubernetes) including Terraform.
• Experience developing customer-facing applications and secure SDLC in a compliance-driven environment (NERC CIP, SOC 1).

Responsibilities

• Lead software engineering teams by setting technical direction and delivering at scale.
• Champion AI-native and automation-first software development practices across the organization.
• Partner with Product Management to align roadmaps with stakeholder needs.
• Oversee vendor partnerships, including SOWs, onboarding, and performance management.
• Establish goals and maintain standards, policies, and modern engineering practices.
• Recruit, develop, and coach engineers and emerging leaders with growth plans.
• Provide technology leadership in development and security, track metrics, and manage budgets.
