Job summary

Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead one or more software teams, setting technical direction and delivering high-value initiatives. You will champion AI-native SDLC practices and coordinate with Product Management and stakeholders to align roadmaps with business goals.

The role requires deep engineering leadership, including managing distributed teams, vendor partnerships, and adherence to security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or four years of equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years technical experience and 3 years management experience; 12 years technical and 5 years management preferred.
• Experience leading multiple software engineering teams in distributed workforce and managing vendor resources.
• Strong experience with AI-native tooling, CI/CD, cloud-native architectures, and security practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead software engineering teams by setting technical direction, driving delivery, and advancing.
• Champion AI-native and automation-first software development practices across the organization.
• Partner with Product Management to align roadmaps with stakeholder needs.
• Oversee vendor partnerships including selection, SOW development, onboarding, and ensuring delivery meets quality and security standards.
• Establish departmental goals and maintain adherence to standards and practices.
• Recruit, develop, and coach a diverse team of engineers and leaders.
• Provide technology leadership in application development and security, track delivery and budgets.
