Job summary

OpenAI, Inc. is seeking a Legal Program Manager to independently manage programs and workstreams across Legal priorities with a focus on emerging user risk.

You will partner with counsel, senior program managers, and technical and business teams to establish priorities, scope, and drive day-to-day execution. This full-time role is based in San Francisco, CA, or New York, NY with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week, and relocation assistance for new employees.

Qualifications

• Experience managing programs or projects in legal operations, compliance, or related fields.
• Ability to translate legal guidance into actionable processes and playbooks.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage assigned legal programs and workstreams, defining plans, owners, milestones, and dependencies.
• Translate counsel guidance into repeatable workflows and documentation, including intake and response coordination.
• Build partnerships across Legal, Product, Safety, User Operations, Policy, and other teams to clarify ownership and drive commitments.
• Clarify open questions, gather information, synthesize input, and present decisions to stakeholders.
• Maintain a reliable source of truth for matters, owners, deadlines, decisions, and actions; report progress and blockers.
